DP | Cat 2 | Theory of knowledge

Course Description

This Category 2 workshop is designed for experienced TOK educators who are currently teaching or have recently taught the TOK course. The workshop provides opportunities to deepen your understanding of the TOK framework and explore effective strategies for guiding students in their critical thinking and reflection. Emphasis is placed on practical approaches to designing learning engagements, integrating the core and optional themes, and supporting students in their exhibition and essay tasks.

Learning Outcome

  1. Deepen their understanding of the TOK course structure, aims, and assessment requirements.

  2. Explore strategies for developing students’ skills in critical thinking, knowledge inquiry, and conceptual understanding.
  3.  Reflect on effective ways to integrate core and optional themes in classroom practice.
  4. Gain insight into assessing the TOK exhibition and essay in line with IB standards.
  5. Collaborate with peers to share resources, teaching strategies, and challenges related to TOK instruction.
  6.  Strengthen connections between TOK and other components of the DP core, including CAS and the extended essay.
