MYP | Cat 3 | Managing Assessment: Language Acquisition
Course Description
This Category 3 professional development workshop is tailored for MYP Language Acquisition educators, programme coordinators, and school leaders who wish to deepen their understanding of criterion‑based assessment within the MYP framework. Participants will engage in practical, hands-on activities to develop concept-driven assessments aligned with subject-specific objectives and global contexts. The workshop includes exploration of internal assessment design and optional external assessment models (eAssessment), fostering consistency and rigour in assessment practices school-wide.
Learning Outcome
Apply the four MYP Language Acquisition assessment criteria effectively when designing tasks that support communication, comprehension, and cultural understanding.
Design concept-based assessment tasks grounded in key language objectives and global contexts.
Develop and refine internal assessment activities, including formative and summative tasks that reflect authentic language use.
Understand and align with external (eAssessment) formats, preparing students for ePortfolio or on-screen assessment methods where available.
Strengthen assessment literacy and moderation practices, ensuring consistency and alignment across classes and teachers.
