MYP | Cat 3| Managing Assessment: Leaders of Learning

Course Description

This workshop empowers MYP leaders coordinators, subject leaders, and administrators to strengthen their strategic understanding of assessment and their ability to lead its effective implementation across the school. Participants will explore how to cultivate a shared school-wide assessment culture that supports student learning, promotes professional collaboration, and aligns with IB philosophy and assessment standards.

Through inquiry, reflection, and collaboration, participants will critically examine school policies, moderation practices, and the integration of internal and external assessments. Emphasis is placed on building assessment capacity within teams, using data to inform teaching and learning, and ensuring alignment with the MYP framework. The workshop also provides opportunities to engage with real-world case studies and IB expectations for sustaining consistent, equitable, and meaningful assessment practices across subject groups.

Learning Outcome

  1. Lead and support the development of effective, criterion-based assessment practices across subject groups in alignment with MYP objectives.

  2. Establish and refine school-wide assessment policies and strategies that support student learning and teacher development.

  3. Use assessment data and moderation processes to ensure consistency and reliability in teacher judgment.

  4. Support teams in implementing both internal and external (eAssessment) assessments, ensuring fidelity to the IB’s standards and practices.
  5. Foster a collaborative assessment culture that empowers teachers to reflect, refine, and align practices in response to evidence of student learning.

Target Audience

This workshop is intended for experienced IB MYP leaders—such as programme coordinators, department heads, and senior instructional leaders—who are familiar with the programme and wish to strengthen their confidence, consistency, and effectiveness in leading and supporting assessment practices across the school. It is particularly relevant for educators seeking to refine their leadership of assessment, ensure alignment with IB philosophy, and build a cohesive and collaborative assessment culture within the MYP context.
