MYP | Cat 3 | Managing assessment: Design
Course Description
This Category 3 IB-authorized workshop is designed for educators involved in MYP Design—subject teachers, lead teachers, and programme coordinators—who seek to deepen their understanding of the MYP assessment framework. Participants will engage in hands-on, concept-driven assessment design using subject-specific objectives and criteria. The workshop also explores optional external assessment models (eAssessment), supporting effective internal assessment design while promoting consistency and alignment across the Design subject group.
Learning Outcome
Implement MYP Design assessment criteria (A–D) effectively, constructing tasks that reflect clear design cycle thinking and inquiry-based learning.
Develop high-quality, concept-based assessment tasks aligned with the Design subject objectives.
Design and refine internal assessment activities, such as design briefs, iterative prototypes, and evaluation tasks tailored to the Design process.
Understand and align with external (eAssessment) formats, where applicable, preparing for ePortfolios or on‑screen exam assessment models.
Establish consistency and reliability through moderation practices and collaborative design culture supported by IB standards.
Target Audience
This workshop is intended for experienced IB MYP educators—including Design subject teachers, lead educators, and programme coordinators—who are familiar with the MYP and wish to strengthen their confidence, consistency, and effectiveness in leading and implementing assessment within Design. It is particularly relevant for those aiming to refine design-focused assessment practices, support student learning through iterative and concept-driven tasks, and contribute to a unified, school-wide approach to MYP Design assessment aligned with IB philosophy and standards.
