IB Ed | Cat 3 | Investigating Inquiry

Course Description

This workshop offers an in-depth exploration of inquiry as both a pedagogical stance and a practical approach to teaching and learning across IB programmes. Participants will critically examine the elements and dimensions of inquiry, reflect on its role in fostering student agency and engagement, and consider how inquiry supports transdisciplinary and interdisciplinary learning. Through collaborative experiences and practical strategies, educators will deepen their understanding of how to design and facilitate authentic, student-driven inquiry in diverse classroom contexts.

Learning Outcome

  1. Develop a deeper understanding of inquiry as a pedagogical stance in IB education.

  2. Examine how inquiry promotes student voice, choice, and ownership of learning.

  3. Explore the relationship between inquiry, conceptual understanding, and real-world contexts.

  4.  Investigate strategies to plan, structure, and sustain inquiry-based learning experiences.

  5. Reflect on their own practices and consider how to strengthen a culture of inquiry across the learning community.

Target Audience

This workshop is intended for experienced IB educators across all programmes who are looking to extend their understanding and implementation of inquiry-based teaching and learning practices.
