Course Description
These workshops are designed for participants who are keen to improve the teaching and learning experience in the DP classroom
Learning Outcomes
- IB Programme Standards & DP Core Integration – Understand and apply IB standards and practices to guide subject delivery, linking teaching with the DP Core (TOK, CAS, EE) and promoting international-mindedness.
- Extended Essay & Supervision – Deepen understanding of the extended essay, including interdisciplinary world studies EEs, and the teacher’s role as a supervisor.
- Teaching & Learning Strategies – Develop inquiry-based, metacognitive, and self-regulated learning strategies that align with the learner profile and support conceptual, procedural, and factual knowledge.
- Assessment & Student Achievement – Address assessment challenges, analyse IB subject reports, and implement effective recording, reporting, and monitoring strategies to enhance student outcomes.
- Professional Collaboration & Resources – Engage in collaborative planning, professional learning communities, and utilise IB resources (TSM, programme resource centre, publications) to strengthen teaching throughout the curriculum.
- Reflection & Programme Evaluation – Reflect on teaching practice, curriculum planning, and programme evaluation, focusing on horizontal and vertical coherence within the school.
Target Audience
Diploma Programme (DP) subject teachers who have prepared students for at least one DP exam session in that specific subject. Educators should enroll in a category 2 workshop in their particular subject
- IB Certification
Dr. Rabab Mohammed Lafi is an experienced educational consultant, teacher educator, curriculum developer, and International Baccalaureate workshop leader with more than 25 years of experience in international education. She holds a PhD in Arabic Literature from the University of Jordan and has worked in Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Sudan, and Singapore.
Her professional expertise includes Arabic language and literature education, curriculum and assessment development, teacher training, literacy development, and international school accreditation. She has contributed to the International Baccalaureate as a workshop leader, curriculum developer, author, reader, examiner, moderator, and principal examiner. She has also worked with the Queen Rania Teacher Academy, the Queen Rania Foundation for Education and Development, the Jordanian Ministry of Education, and several international schools.
Dr. Lafi is committed to promoting inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, international-mindedness, and effective professional development for educators.
