Course Description

This course explores practical ways to use Artificial Intelligence in the PYP art classroom to support student thinking during the planning and idea-development stage of an art project. The focus is on starting with student sketches, questions, and concepts, then using AI as a tool to explore additional visual possibilities before moving into hands-on art-making.

 

AI is used to support inquiry, comparison, and reflection, while student choice, creativity, and artistic identity remain central. The course emphasizes thoughtful integration of technology that aligns with existing art practices rather than replacing them.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Design PYP art learning experiences that integrate AI during the planning and ideation stage.
     
  2. Apply AI tools to support student brainstorming and visual exploration.
  3. Facilitate student reflection by comparing student-generated ideas with AI-generated visuals.
  4. Identify practices that maintain student agency and originality when using AI in art.
  5. Plan art lessons that combine traditional art-making with AI-supported idea development.
