Course Description

In this workshop, school leaders will consider how effective communication between their school and their community leverages the wisdom and expertise of all learning community members, thereby fostering interdependent, diverse and inclusive relationships.

Learning Outcome

“Workshop participants will explore how:

empowering all members of the community to be agents of change aligns with the philosophy of an IB education
leaders nurture interdependent, inclusive and strengths-based relationships with their community. -effective communication between school leaders and their communities leverages the wisdom and expertise of all members of the community by encouraging the acceptance of diverse perspectives
strategic engagement with their community can extend student learning and strengthen the implementation of their IB programme(s).

Practical application: Participants select a specific community to nurture a partnership within their context. They apply community leadership strategies learned in the workshop to further develop that specific community partnership or to develop a new partnership.”

Course Includes

Chris Wright is an experienced educational leader specializing in school leadership, professional learning, and system-wide school improvement. With 35 years of experience, including leadership roles in three schools across the Middle East and the UK, he has also served as Director of Education for a school company overseeing 40 schools in the UK. He is currently Director of Education at Uptown International School in Cairo, with expertise in pedagogical leadership, curriculum development, and educator training. Chris has contributed to tertiary education through his work with London University’s PGCE course, mentoring and preparing new teachers. An experienced national and international workshop leader, he specializes in professional learning for school leaders—both middle leaders and senior leadership teams. He is the author of InThinking’s School Leadership website, offering global resources for educators, and also serves as a trainer for school evaluation visits.
