Supporting Social and Emotional Development of Preschoolers

Course Description

This training equips early childhood educators with practical, developmentally appropriate strategies to support preschoolers’ social and emotional growth. Using the CASEL framework, it covers five core SEL competencies: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.

Participants will explore how to create emotionally responsive, inclusive environments that foster empathy, emotional regulation, and positive peer interactions, integrating SEL into daily routines for long-term child development.

Learning Outcome

  1. Identify the five CASEL competencies relevant to early childhood development.

  2. Describe how each competency supports children’s social and emotional growth.
  3. Apply targeted strategies to develop emotional regulation, empathy, and social skills in the classroom.

  4. Design classroom environments that intentionally promote Social and Emotional Learning (SEL).
