Course Description
MYP Mathematics teachers engage in collaborative inquiries to refine unit planners using enhanced content on unit planning, curriculum design, implementation strategies and best practices.
Learning Outcomes
- Unit planning across the IB programmes as an interconnected, ongoing cycle
- Multiple entry points into unit planning: from content, concept(s), context(s), or skills.
- MYP Beta content encourages risk taking, experimentation and reflection that can lead to shared new understandings.
- Participants are encouraged to bring a unit plan they have previously taught. This will provide a valuable opportunity to share ideas, reflect on practice and engage in collaborative learning with peers
Target Audience
Middle Years Programme (MYP) subject-group teachers with at least one year of experience delivering the MYP in their specific subject.
- IB Certification
Mariam Srour is an IB mathematics educator with over 18 years of experience in international education. She currently serves as an MYP Mathematics Coordinator and has extensive experience teaching both MYP and DP Mathematics. As an active member of the IB Educator Network (IBEN), she contributes as a Workshop Leader, School Visit Team Member, and Examiner. Mariam is particularly interested in curriculum development, assessment practices, and supporting teachers in implementing the IB philosophy in their classrooms. She enjoys collaborating with educators, sharing practical classroom strategies, and contributing to professional learning within the IB community.
